Goodwork Coworking

Your first day at Goodwork

How to get in the building, book a seat, and find everything else. Takes about five minutes to read, and you only need the parts that apply to you.

Getting in the building

Watch this first. It covers the front door, using your phone as your key, and where everything is once you're inside.

The short version

  1. Download the Coworks app and log in with the email you signed up with.
  2. Open the app and tap the lock icon on the home screen.
  3. Choose the front door. It unlocks for a few seconds โ€” pull the handle while it's open.
  4. The work room is [[DIRECTIONS_ONCE_INSIDE โ€” e.g. "straight back past the stairs"]].

Nobody's at a front desk, because there isn't one. Goodwork is unstaffed by design โ€” it's quieter that way. If something's wrong, locked, out of paper, or just confusing, email nate@goodworkcoworking.com and I'll sort it out.

Parking

There's a lot at the building. If it's full, there's more parking down by the Circle K on Highway 9 โ€” a short walk, and it's rarely full.

The Coworks app

Your key, your bookings, and your invoices all live here.

Download it, then log in with the email address you used to sign up. If you've never set a password, use the forgot-password link and it'll email you one.

Some things only appear in the browser version, so it's worth having both. Same login.

Walkthroughs from Coworks

Coworks keeps their own guides for the app โ€” booking rooms, the member directory, updating your payment details. Worth a skim.

Hot desk & flex

Open seating in the work room at the back. Five desks, first come first served.

Book ahead on days you need to be sure. There are five seats back there, and on a busy morning they go. A booking guarantees you one; walking in doesn't.

Hot desks are booked through the booking page below rather than inside the app โ€” that's a Coworks limitation, not a Goodwork one, and it should change at some point. Bookmark the link.

Book a desk

Desks are booked by the morning, the afternoon, or the full day. Your plan includes [[FLEX_CREDITS โ€” e.g. "4 credits a month"]]; anything past that bills as an overage at the end of the month.

Dedicated desk

The same work room, but the desk is yours and nobody else can book it.

Your deskDesks 6 and 7 are the dedicated ones โ€” the number is on the desk
Storage[[STORAGE โ€” where the locker is, how the key or code works]]
Access hours[[DEDICATED_HOURS]]
Conference room4 hours a month included

No need to book anything day to day โ€” just come in.

Private office

Your own lockable room, around the clock.

Access24/7, front door and your office door, both from the app
MailOn the pickup shelf by the bathroom
Business addressYour Name, 301 W State St, [[SUITE_OR_OFFICE_NUMBER]], Black Mountain, NC 28711
Conference room6 hours a month included

You're the last one out some nights. If you're leaving after hours, check the front door latches behind you โ€” it should close on its own, but it's worth a pull.

Booking the conference room

Book it in the app, under Bookings.

Every plan includes some conference room time each month โ€” 2 hours on hot desk, 4 on dedicated, 6 with a private office. The room bills at 2.5 credits an hour, and anything past your included time shows up as an overage on your next invoice. No surprise: you'll see the credit count when you book.

Cancel if your plans change. Credits go back to you, and somebody else can have the room.

House guide

The practical stuff.

Wi-FiThe network and password are in the app, under Resources
Printer & copierKonica Minolta. Connect to the Wi-Fi and it should show up on your machine
CoffeeNespresso machine โ€” pods are in the drawer. Use filtered water from the back. There's a drip pot too: paper filter, add water, flip the switch
KitchenFridge and microwave, both shared
Phone callsAnything past about fifteen minutes, take it in the kitchen or outside. The work room stays quiet
GuestsClients and prospects are welcome โ€” see below

About guests

Bring a client or a prospect in for a meeting any time. What doesn't work is bringing someone to work alongside you, or sharing your membership with another person. That's grounds for losing your membership without a refund โ€” not a rule I expect to use, but one worth stating plainly, because it's the difference between a membership and a shared one.

All of this also lives in the Resources tab of the app, so you don't have to find this page again.

Something not working?

Email me. I read everything and I answer fast โ€” usually the same day, and much faster if you're standing outside a door that won't open.
